Applying
innovation technologies in educational process of Kazakh National Medical
University (KNMU)
In 2006 Conception of Reforming medical and pharmaceutical education was
approved by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was developed
in government frameworks’ program of reforming and advancing public health
service of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2005-2010
From 2006 on the department of public health service of KNMU have been
carried out innovation educational technologies into educational process (i.e.
problem-focused education, interactive lectures(problem-focused, discussion),
solving situation tasks, using of practical games with distributing roles,
making crossword puzzles, thematic booklets, education in small groups. There are actively used testing,
presentations, cases in the process of education.
Students of medical university from passive users become active
participants of educational process. Students may choose trajectory of their
education by selecting appropriate elective courses and discipline teacher.
Modern requirements of professional training of medical specialists that
own up-to-date technologies in medicine area have demanded introduction of
interactive methods of education from teachers of our university. These methods
should promote cognition skills of students.
Introduction of innovation methods of education has demanded complex
training of teachers in improvement of professional skill courses and
organization of special seminars, additional trainings, master-classes.
Role games have been introduced as the result of spent events in the
department of public health service of KNMU. They were named « Mission and
organization of medical and consulting commission's working. Examination of
time invalidity», «Marketing in public health services. General characteristic
of marketing», «Introduction into management. General characteristic of
management ».
For activation of education process were developed scenario of
realization practical lesson with using modern techniques of interactive
education (quiz, testing, presentations and etc).
At the same time there are some difficulties for introduction
interactive methods into education process in the department. Such as:
- Unwillingness to depart from methods of teaching settled for many
years (when the teacher dictates material student writes down)
- Insufficient material
accompaniment for introduction of new educational technologies (as not all
educational rooms could be used for practical lessons with innovation).
- Insufficient motivation of
teachers that are engaged in introduction of innovation methods of education
- Insufficient motivation of
students for working in more active mode (there is no scale of incentive balls)
- Insufficient attraction of
students to research independent work with primary facts
- Unwillingness of students to show initiative on practical lessons.
Nowadays there are various techniques of attraction of student into
active work. First of all it is technique of motivation that is based on
interest of each student in group as the result of made work. If student see
the result he will work more active. Result should be seen on each practical
lesson. But this work should be
organized by two participants. They are teacher and student. If there is no at
least one participant this work won’t
be effective.
With a view of activation of innovation technologies in medical
universities there are centre of innovation technologies in KNMU. Opened
lections have been read in all departments and have been concluded practical
lessons with the help of the innovation method of education in all departments
of KNMU.
This way it is necessary to note that opportunities of improvement of
learning process are not limited neither from the side of teacher nor student
(active customer of knowledge). It is need to find an optimal ways of
realization of this strategy.
