Experience in Using Quantum
Chemical Modelling
and other IT Applications when
Teaching Chemistry
and Physics at the University
of Dodoma
At the University of Dodoma, we have accumulated certain positive
experience in the following applications of IT to teaching process: Internet (used
both by course instructors to prepare lectures, course compendia, other
teaching/training/course work/examination materials, lecture PowerPoint
presentations and – very recently – also sometimes ONLINE during lectures and
seminars to find a clue in discussing various issues in physics, such as [1]).
As for chemistry, we are using certain software which enables to perform quantum
chemical modeling of various microscopic properties of multi-atomic molecules
such as distribution of net Mulliken [2] charges on atoms, energies of
molecular orbitals dipole moment (within the framework of MO methods [2, 3] such
as PM/3, MP/3, MNDO, ab initio).
To be continued (3+ pages).
