In a mass order in Russia Sunday schools start to function, there is a
system of the general orthodox formation and education. Patriarch Alex II has
underlined that Russian Orthodox Church, having had an opportunity «openly to
be engaged in educational activity, gives attention to this sphere of the life
more and more» [2, 4].
The Russian Orthodox Church initiates introduction in average
educational institutions of a subject «Basis of orthodox culture» which should
acquaint from culturological positions pupils with bases of traditional
religion of the country.
Thus, practice has shown that «the clergy as a whole has accepted ideas
of orthodox youth service and … has felt its taste». And though the church has
no sufficient experience of a practical embodiment of such ideas that causes
serious difficulties at attempt of their realization, its position in business
of youth service becomes every year more and more accurate» [3, 264].
Supporting as a whole constructive undertakings of Russian Orthodox
Church in respect of youth education, the state should observe accurately norms
of the confessional legislation, without breaking thus the rights of other
