PROSPECTS OF UKRAINIAN NUCLEAR POWER INDUSTRY
Development of domestic
engineering, in particular, nuclear engineering - one of the priority tasks of
the national economy. Ukraine has sufficient capacity and capabilities in this
area, and the modern development of nuclear energy contributes to building and
expanding international cooperation of Ukraine and countries of the world.
The demand for energy will increase
and by 2050 more than doubled. Nuclear energy from all the existing
technologies of energy production today is the real fuel reserve, and minimal
pollution.
Many experts believe that the
coming era of nuclear renaissance. The U.S. is now considered the order of 30
licenses to build new nuclear reactors. To the world nuclear park want to join:
Belarus, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Chile and others for increasing the
number of nuclear power plants will be followed by an increase in uranium
production, capacity remaining facilities related to energy production at
nuclear power plants.
According to the forecasts of
the World Nuclear Association (WNA), global demand for uranium will increase by
65 thousand (2001) to 75 tons in 2020.
Many countries are trying to
occupy the most profitable niche in the nuclear market, which includes power
equipment, as well as other products and services to the nuclear fuel cycle
facilities.
Our country is the 6-th place
in the world and 1-st in Europe in explored reserves of uranium, has a unique
processing industries, machine-building enterprises, development of industrial
and technological base, as well as considerable scientific and technical
potential.
Such enterprises as East
Mining, Volnogorsky Mining and Metallurgical Combine, SSPE Zirconium,
Turboatom, "Ukratompribor" are among the best in the domestic nuclear
industry.
State Enterprise "Eastern
Mining and Concentration Plant - the only enterprise in Ukraine for the
extraction and processing of uranium ore, which can fully meet the needs of
nuclear power state in natural uranium.
“Turboatom” is one of the
leading enterprises of Ukrainian power engineering. Supplies 13% of turbines
for nuclear power plants of the total volume of deliveries of turbines in the
world market and takes on this indicator 4-th place among building companies in
the world. In Ukraine, the three existing nuclear power plants are equipped
with turbines “Turboatom” capacity of 220, 1000 and 1100 MW. Turbine power
plants operate successfully in 45 countries in Europe, Asia, America and
Africa, for example, nuclear power plant Loviisa (Finland), Paks (Hungary),
Kozloduy (Bulgaria).
Corporation
“Ukratompribor” is engaged in the presentation and promotion of Ukrainian
products of nuclear instrument in the domestic and overseas markets. Develops
and manufactures modern competitive radiometric, spectrometric equipment of new
generation. Partners "Ukratompribor" are companies such as Instantel
(Canada), Bruker Baltic (Lithuania), Polimaster (USA), etc.
Number of domestic enterprises
producing automatic control systems plant, for example, Severodonetskoye NPO
“Impuls”, “Kharkov Instrument Plant”, “Shevchenko”, "LvovORGRES",
"Westron" were able to maintain production capacity and to enter the
overseas market with competitive equipment that complies with international
safety standards, nuclear power plants. In Bulgaria Kozloduy embedded control
systems security development NPP "Radius", and contract their
creation was the largest in the history of cooperation of Bulgaria and Ukraine.
Plant “Shevchenko” has introduced a management system of turbines at nuclear
power plants in India, and Russia. "Westron" put the equipment in
nuclear power plants the Czech Republic, Spain, Armenia, the Republic of South
Africa, Bulgaria, Sweden, the United States.
In addition to these, in
Ukraine there are also many other manufacturing companies, manufactures and
supplies equipment for the nuclear industry - piping and control valves,
motors, pumps, compressors, fans, various actuators and valves.
In Ukraine there are
scientific and manufacturing capabilities to develop nuclear energy complex.
Lacks a state policy, which helped to realize the potential b of the industry,
to deepen international cooperation, supports the development and
implementation of innovative projects, which, in turn, will promote the stable
development of national economy.
